The mountains will see a hot, clear day with highs in the low 90s. Higher elevations will be slightly cooler.
Possible Outcomes
Weather forecasting involves uncertainty. Below are two scenarios representing the range of possible outcomes: the "Boom" scenario shows the worst-case/highest-impact result if conditions align unfavorably, while the "Bust" scenario shows the best-case/lowest-impact result if the forecast doesn't materialize as expected.
The 'Boom' Scenario
The 'Boom' heat scenario occurs if the GFS verification of +24C at 850mb combines with dry soil feedback to push temperatures to 100-102°F across the Louisville and Purchase regions.
The 'Bust' Scenario
The 'Bust' scenario involves slightly higher surface moisture or an earlier arrival of high-level cirrus from the north, keeping peak temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s instead of the upper 90s.

The Triple-Digit Threshold

In late-summer high-pressure regimes with dry soils, global models like the GFS often better capture the peak thermal potential of the boundary layer compared to the typically cooler bias of the ECMWF.
